Domain Transfer Guide: How to Move Your Domain to TLDNepal
Transfer your existing domain without downtime. Authorization codes, transfer locks, and what to expect.
Transferring a domain between registrars is straightforward. Here's how to move your domain to TLDNepal without downtime.
Before You Start
- Domain must be unlocked at your current registrar
- Domain must be 60+ days old (ICANN policy)
- Domain must not be expired
Step 1: Get Authorization Code
Log into your current registrar and request an authorization code (EPP code). This typically arrives via email within 5-30 minutes.
Step 2: Unlock the Domain
Disable transfer lock in your current registrar's control panel. The unlock is usually instant.
Step 3: Initiate Transfer at TLDNepal
Visit TLDNepal transfer page, enter your domain name and authorization code, then complete payment.
Cost: Transfer includes 1-year extension. For .com, you pay रू1,499 and the domain is extended by one year.
Step 4: Approve Transfer Request
Both registrars send confirmation emails. Approve at your old registrar to speed up transfer (completes in 1-2 hours), or wait 5 days for auto-approval.
Step 5: Wait for Completion
Best case: 1-2 hours (if you approve immediately) Typical: 5-7 days (auto-approval)
Your website and email continue working during transfer. DNS settings are preserved.
Common Issues
Transfer Rejected: Domain Locked — Go back and unlock at old registrar Invalid Auth Code — Request new code, may have expired Transfer Stuck 7+ Days — Check email for approval request
