DNS Checker — Look up any domain's records

Check A, AAAA, MX, NS, TXT and other DNS records for any domain. Uses Cloudflare's public resolver.

Record types

What each record type does

Most DNS problems come down to one of these seven records pointing somewhere it shouldn't.

AAddress

Points the domain at an IPv4 address, like 103.10.28.4. This is the record that decides which server loads when someone opens your site.

AAAAIPv6 address

The IPv6 equivalent of an A record. Optional, but worth having — a growing share of mobile networks in Nepal reach IPv6 first.

MXMail exchange

Tells other mail servers where to deliver your email. Each entry has a priority; the lowest number is tried first, higher ones are fallbacks.

NSNameserver

Names the servers that hold your DNS zone. If these are wrong or still point at an old host, nothing else you change will take effect.

TXTText

Free-form text used for domain verification, SPF, DKIM and DMARC. This is where Google, Microsoft and Meta ask you to prove you own the domain.

CNAMECanonical name

Makes one hostname an alias of another, so www.example.com can follow example.com. A CNAME cannot sit on the bare domain alongside other records.

SOAStart of authority

One per zone. Holds the primary nameserver, the zone serial number and the timers that secondary servers use to refresh their copy.

Questions about DNS lookups

Is this DNS checker free to use?
Yes. There is no signup, no account and no usage limit. Lookups are answered by Cloudflare's public DNS-over-HTTPS resolver at 1.1.1.1, which is free for anyone to query.
Why don't I see the DNS change I just made?
Every DNS record carries a TTL, which is how long resolvers are allowed to cache the old answer. Until that TTL expires, Cloudflare's resolver keeps serving the previous value. The TTL column in the results shows how much longer that can last — typically anywhere from five minutes to a full day.
Which resolver answers these lookups?
Cloudflare's public resolver, 1.1.1.1, queried over DNS-over-HTTPS. It is a recursive resolver rather than your authoritative nameserver, so results reflect what the wider internet currently sees for your domain — which is usually what you want when you are debugging.
